What Recharging in a Healthy Way Really Looks Like

You’ve probably heard from me (many times) that practicing self-care isn’t selfish–it’s a crucial part of bettering your health and showing your family to do the same! The problem, however, is that the phrase “self-care” gets thrown around a lot, but what does it really mean?

There are plenty of healthy ways to recharge your body and mind. Today, I’m sharing my thoughts on positive methods for recharging, and I would love to hear your thoughts, too!

Personally, I’m an ambivert. I enjoy being around others but typically, my recharge time is solo or with a close friend. I’m super excited to be fully vaccinated, and one thing I’m looking forward to is scheduling my first massage in 14 months! Having a professional pamper and care for me is part of my personal self-care routine.

Getting a massage, foam rolling, or stretching helps me to keep my body in a place where I feel comfortable moving freely.

A few of my self-care practices are weather-dependent, and I’m so grateful for warmer days making it possible to spend time outside! I recently made a reservation at a local restaurant with a patio that I’ve been wanting to try. Sitting out on the deck with great food and company is just one way that I take care of myself by practicing self-care!

When I’m feeling a little more in-tune with my extroverted side, I love having Friday night dinner with a couple of girlfriends! We can also move this outside, and spending time with friends and enjoying fresh air gives me a double-dose of the self-care my body and mind need!

There is no one right way to recharge. The “healthy” way to recharge is by doing anything that feeds your soul and brings you joy!

Anything that helps you set a good example for your family and leaves you feeling great can be a form of self-care. When you’re looking for the best way to care for your body and mind, consider what really feeds your soul. Is it being outdoors? Try an afternoon hike somewhere new! Is it time spent with friends who keep you smiling? Make plans to grab lunch with your loved ones!
