Unlocking Wellness : Exploring the role of a Wellness Strategist  

Welcome to the world of wellness, where food is about nourishing our bodies and also our minds and souls; AND wellness is about so much more than just food!

I'm a Nutrition Evangelist as well as a Wellness Strategist, and my main goal is to help you achieve your best health by looking at various aspects of your life. It's not just about what's on your plate; it's about taking a comprehensive approach to your well-being. 

Let's start with sleep because it's the key foundation of wellness. Getting a good night's sleep is crucial for our overall well-being. By creating an optimal sleeping environment, we can take a big step towards improving our wellness.

 

 

 

 

Here are a few steps to enhance your sleep experience:

  1. Keep the temperature just right: Aim for a comfortable room temperature that isn't too cold or too hot. Adjust as needed during the night for better sleep.
  2. Darken your space: Try using blackout shades or a sleep mask to block out excess light, especially in the early morning.
  3. Watch your beverages: Avoid caffeinated or alcoholic drinks close to bedtime, as they can disrupt your sleep patterns.
  4. Establish a nighttime routine: Wind down before bed with relaxing activities like reading or sipping herbal tea.Consider adding a short meditation session to help you ease into sleep.

Remember, everyone's sleep needs are different, so find a routine that works best for you. Experiment with different strategies and determine the amount of sleep your body requires. Aim for at least six hours, but if you're a teenager, like my kiddos, you may need eight to nine hours.

While sleep is a good starting point, wellness encompasses so much more. These areas are:

  • Stress management: Identify your stress triggers and develop effective coping strategies to promote your mental well-being.

  • Physical activity: Incorporate movement into your daily routine to keep your body energized and your metabolism active.

  • Supplements and medications: Assess how supplements or medications may be affecting your metabolism, hormones, and overall well-being.

  • Finding joy: Make sure you have time for activities that bring you joy and prioritize them in your schedule.
