The Key to a Happy and Healthy Vacation

In my household, we’re taking full advantage of vacation season while it’s here! We’ve been trying to pack in as many trips as possible while the weather is great and my son is off from school. Most recently, we headed up to Vermont for some much-needed relaxation time. We enjoyed hiking and time with friends, and I got to do something I only do once a year - beach volleyball!

With my summer full of action-packed weeks, I got a firsthand look at how hard it can be to stick to your goals while you travel. 

I’m not going to lecture you about sticking to a food plan, or hitting the hotel gyms, or dedicating time for self-care while you travel because what I’ve really experienced this summer is that travel is self-care. 

Hopefully, if you’re planning a vacation, you’re going to have amazing food, go do some fun things, and get a little bit of R&R each day. So instead of telling you to stick to your regular routine, I’m going to give you the real key to a successful and healthy vacation. 

No matter where you’re traveling this summer, there is a heat wave, so it’s going to be hot! That’s why the one thing I would tell you to do on your vacation is simply to hydrate. 

When you’re dehydrated, your body is more tired, leading to brain fog and unwanted crankiness. Dehydration causes moodiness that will make it really hard to enjoy your vacation. My favorite way to stay hydrated on the go is with Electro, a delicious supplement to my water that helps ensure I have plenty of electrolytes throughout the day.
