The Cornerstone of Foodie Travel

We may have planes, trains, and automobiles, but my favorite method of travel would have to be by stomach. Last week, I journeyed over to Europe to take in the sights and lots of delicious food along the way. To me, traveling is essential to enjoying life. I never want to feel like I’m restricted when I’m surrounded by the cuisines of a new country, and you shouldn’t feel that way, either.

Today, I’m bringing my secret weapon for traveling while staying healthy so that I feel my best all throughout my journey.

At home, my cooler, or mobile-readiness food kit, is my lifeline when I’m out and about. I keep it well stocked with snacks for the journey, and paired with a shake, I know I’ll be covered when hunger hits me while out and about.

When I travel, prepackaged snacks in baggies are essential to staying on track. I can pack in my favorite snacks, and when I start to feel hungry, I don’t feel pressured to run for fast food or some other sustenance that’s unhealthy, but in close proximity.

Now, as much as I value my health and avoiding hunger, I also value trying new cuisines when I’m immersed in a new culture, so it may seem crazy to rely on prepackaged snacks to get me by. The truth is that I like a healthy balance of both because it’s just more practical for the way that I travel. When I’m on the road, my schedule can vary a lot, so I can’t guarantee where my next meal will come from or when I’ll get it, and I personally don’t like feeling trapped by limited food options. When I have snacks on hand, I can extend my walking tour, or go check out a cool shop that I come across, or act spontaneously without fearing that I might get hangry.

Bringing snacks actually gives me so much more flexibility in my travels, and I can still enjoy delicious local food whenever it’s an option.

Having a shake, a PFC bar, your favorite supplements, and a water bottle on hand can actually make traveling so much easier because you don’t have to tailor your trip around food, but you can still enjoy whatever yummy options come your way.

Balance is important when I travel because l can enjoy both delicious food and my surroundings when I don’t wake up feeling yucky and bloated. For me, having healthy options helps me enjoy my vacation even more–especially the great food that comes with it!
