Staying Healthy While You Travel

Summer is the season of fun, sun, and travel, and I know I’m trying to get my fill of all three in the next few months! Traveling is a really important part of my life, and now that things are reopening a bit, I’m excited to return to early mornings in airports and afternoons in fun new destinations.

Of course, living a healthy life is also really important to me, and I talk to a lot of women who have a hard time traveling and eating healthy at the same time. It’s not in your head: making healthy choices when you’re on the road can be a little trickier than when you have a fridge full of options. But I’m committed to traveling in a way that doesn’t interfere with my goals for myself, and you can do the same, too.

Today, I want to share my three tips for staying healthy while traveling.

  1. Come prepared and don’t be afraid to customize your snacks.

I recently found myself in the airport going to Las Vegas, and I knew ahead of time that airport food isn’t always the cheapest or healthiest option. I also knew that security could be a little tricky for packing my own food. To prepare for that, I started my morning with a healthy shake to fill me up and give me energy for the morning. I wanted my next meal at the airport, so I grabbed a bagel with egg and cheese, and I asked for double the egg for extra protein. Sure, it was a little heavier than I may normally choose, but it was delicious, kept me satisfied, and had the protein my body needs.

I also packed in some of my own snacks that aren’t liquids, and that was really helpful for my journey! Don’t be afraid to look up TSA regulations and pack your own snacks that meet their requirements for an easy option that you can keep with you.

  1. Bring your supplements along for the ride.

My snacks at the airport were a little higher in sodium than I would normally choose, so I took my Restore supplement before eating. My Restore tablets have digestive enzymes that help my body process what I eat and keep away the bloat, so I can enjoy every bite of my snack knowing that my body can handle it.

  1. Drink your water, and then drink some more.

It’s much easier to become dehydrated when we travel, so I doubled up on my water at the airport. I then put Electro into my drink, the premiere electrolyte add on for your water. It tastes great, so if you aren’t in love with plain water, Electro is an awesome addition for a great taste. I was in a dry climate, so the added electrolytes were super important, but no matter where you are, summer is definitely the time to add Electro to your drink because it will help you absorb the hydration your body needs.

Traveling is such a fulfilling part of life, and you should never have to sacrifice great moments and memories in the name of eating healthy. You can stay healthy even when on the go! I want you to live a life you love, and that means never dieting and taking advantage of all the joy life has to offer.
