Spring Cleaning: Declutter Your Space to Create an Environment You Thrive In

Spring is in the air, and that means spring cleaning is here, too. I’ve recently been doing some reorganizing in my office, and I picked up some new organizers in a cool gray color with a fun pattern. When I was deciding how I could revamp my office to give it a little tune up, I picked these organizers because I think they will be a mood lifter and a natural hiding spot for some clutter.

I dedicate a lot of my time to helping women kick their diet culture habits and trade them for a truly healthy life, and that includes making healthy choices in my own life. I choose foods that are good for my body to consume and give myself plenty of time to exercise, but I also know that my health goes so much deeper than that.

Spring cleaning for me is a time to reset my space and create an environment that I can thrive in.

When your space is cluttered and in need of a deep clean, it’s hard to focus on anything positive, like putting good food in your body and good thoughts in your head. That’s why today, I’m going to share some tips for taking a look around your environment and creating a space around you that sets you up for success.

  1. Take a look at spaces you might usually forget about.

Yes, spring cleaning involves plenty of time with a broom in hand, and there will always be more laundry that needs to be folded. But for a real spring deep clean, I encourage you to check out the spaces that may usually be forgotten. Does your fridge create a clean environment that encourages you to fill it with produce? Are your cabinets still cluttered with random products that don’t serve your lifestyle anymore? Take the time to fill a box and donate any packaged products to your local food bank. You can serve local families and create room in your pantry for foods that will have a positive impact on your life!

  1. Clear your countertops.

If your kitchen counters are cluttered, it’s unlikely that you’ll feel excited to get into the kitchen to whip up a fun, healthy meal. Clearing your counters will give you the room you need to pull out things like your cutting board or a blender without feeling like you have an added chore when dinner time comes around. Create that space now so that when it’s time to cook, you can get down to business!

  1. Set your fridge up for success.

Once you’ve cleared your fridge, you can reload it with foods that will set you up for success. I personally always keep a shake ready to go so if I’m running late or in need of a quick snack, I can easily grab that and not be put in a situation where I have to choose an option that doesn’t serve me or my goals. I also keep staples like shredded chicken and par cooked salmon filets on hand, and that makes it so much easier for me to quickly toss together a healthy meal when I’m feeling hungry.

There’s much more that goes into a healthy lifestyle than just eating veggies and getting plenty of exercise. Doing some spring cleaning can help you create an environment for yourself that rids your mind of clutter and sets you up for success.
