How to prevent the 'busy' from turning into overwhelm.

How to prevent the 'busy' from turning into overwhelm.

Let's face it we’ve all got a lot going on these days. I recently launched a new program, and hosted a one-day summit. Plus, my kiddo is going off to college next year, and it's acceptance decision season. On top of all that, today is a snow day, and there are just so many things to do.

It's so easy for all of these feelings of busyness to turn into overwhelm.

Here are a few tips I use to prevent this from happening:

1.Establish a routine.

Having a morning routine is especially important, as it sets the tone for the rest of the day. A good routine keeps you grounded and focused and keeps you moving forward. It helps you stay flexible when unexpected things come up, like shoveling snow off your front steps. Start where you are with what you've got, and work from there.

If you don't already have a routine, start with small steps.Wake up 10 minutes earlier than your alarm and take that time for yourself. Do some stretches and breathing exercises, or reflect on your day.

Our children’s routines can keep us so busy in the morning, just make that 10 minutes longer so that you can grab some breakfast for yourself and stabilize your blood sugar. This will help you be the best parent you can be.

2.Leave spaces in your day.

Time management is a crucial skill, but we often let every minute fill up. Instead, try leaving some open spaces for unexpected things. If nothing comes up, enjoy the quiet and have a cup of tea or read a book.

3.Be flexible.

Routines are great, but don't let them control you. If something needs tweaking or breaks, don't let it ruin your day. Embrace the attitude of flexibility and adapt accordingly.

Establishing a routine, leaving open spaces in your daily calendar, and being flexible are three tips that can help you stay focused, grounded, and in control of your schedule.

Make sure that you're getting plenty of water and that you're getting good PFC3 meals throughout the whole day.

Don't forget to prioritize your health and well-being, so you can enjoy all the things that bring you joy.
