Maximizing Wellness on the Go: A Morning with Dawn McGee

As someone who is no stranger to the whirlwind of travel, I understand the unique challenges that come with maintaining a healthy lifestyle on the road. It's an art and a science, and I've dedicated years to maintaining this delicate balance. Today, I open the curtains and let you in on the secrets that fuel my day and keep me on track, even amidst the hustle and bustle of a packed travel itinerary.

Planning for a productive morning

The art of a successful day begins with a well-structured plan. When you're away from your familiar abode, it's essential to establish a framework for your day. My morning planning ritual starts with knowing precisely when my first session is scheduled. From there, I work backward, calculating the time needed for each essential step.

Fueling my body right

Breakfast is the cornerstone of a healthy start, especially when you're away from the comfort of your own kitchen. Recently, I had the pleasure of staying at a hotel with a lovely restaurant and a well-equipped gym, so I was excited to get my workout in each morning. I did however have a half a meal before heading downstairs to the gym so I didn’t have to workout fasted. By fueling my body with a small pre-workout meal, and then having a full breakfast afterwards, I was setting the stage for an energetic and productive day. Picture this: a delicate egg white omelet with vibrant veggies and accompanied by crispy paprikash potatoes.

A sweat session for a great start

And about that workout… Exercise isn't just a routine—it's essential self-care and a commitment to my well-being. A morning sweat session jumpstarts the day, infusing it with energy and positivity. Even while on the move, I carve out time for a workout that stimulates both body and mind, a skill which I have learned over the years.

Over a lifetime of travel, study, and a profound passion for wellness, I've gathered a toolbox of abilities and practices that enable me to maintain a healthy lifestyle wherever life takes me. These skills aren't exclusive to a privileged few; they are accessible to anyone willing to invest time and effort.
