Lessons from India

I'm back at my desk in Boston after an interesting week and a half in India. This trip was filled with unforgettable experiences and a few important lessons that I wanted to share with you today.

First World Problems

India was a stark reminder that many of my daily struggles are truly first world problems. The contrasts in India are striking: extreme poverty next to extreme wealth, cows roaming the streets, and a chaotic traffic system with very different rules than I am used to. Despite the chaos, I always reached my destinations safely, although I was quite content to be a passenger rather than a driver!

Incredible Experiences

During my time in India, I indulged in delicious local foods, saw the majestic Taj Mahal, and visited artisans crafting beautiful marble inlay pieces, much like their ancestors did centuries ago. It was fascinating to witness such rich traditions and craftsmanship up close.

Coping with the Heat

Delhi was scorching, Bangalore was more like Boston in the summer. Surprisingly, Boston is hotter today! Despite the heat, I didn’t fall ill, thanks to some careful preparations.

Travel Essentials:

Here are a few tools that made a huge difference for me during my trip:

  1. Grayl Water Bottle: This amazing bottle filters water, ensuring I always had clean water to drink. It was a game-changer in a place where the local gut microbiome is so very different than my own and that can be a concern.

  2. Healthy Snacks: Bringing my own snacks meant I could enjoy local cuisines without worrying about every meal. This flexibility allowed me to try new foods without overloading my system.

  3. Zive Digestive Support: I’m part of a pilot program for Zive, a comprehensive digestive aid. This product includes digestive enzymes, prebiotics, probiotics, and liver and kidney support. It helped me navigate the diverse and rich foods in India without any digestive issues. If you’re interested in trying it, drop me a note!

Upcoming Travels

I have more travels planned this summer, including trips to California, Vermont, and Sicily. I’m thrilled to continue exploring new cuisines and cultures while staying healthy and energized.
