Embrace Change: Navigating Your Goals with Positivity and Simple Steps

We're at the end of January, and you might notice a subtle shift in the air—a dwindling enthusiasm for New Year's resolutions.

People who were once all about big goals might be quietly rethinking things.

If this sounds like you, let's talk about a cool idea: instead of giving up, let's learn to adapt.

At the beginning of the year, everyone was talking about their resolutions and how they were starting to make progress. But as time passes, the energy often fades, and by February, many have already given up on their resolutions. If you've been listening to my advice, you know I prefer setting achievable goals rather than making hard resolutions, using the SMART criteria.

Personally, I plan to walk 8,000 steps every day, but the freezing weather in the Northeast made outdoor walks tough. Instead of quitting, I decided to change things up.

I put on warm clothes, like boots, ski pants, a heated vest, and gloves, so I can continue to walk outside; and also started doing indoor exercises and using my Peloton more. It might not be the same as walking outside, but it still keeps me moving and feeling good. The main idea here is that reaching your goal might not happen exactly how you thought, and that's totally okay. What matters most is that you keep making progress.

So, the big advice for today is simple: don't get stuck.

If your plan isn't working, change it. The important thing is to keep going.

If you need help figuring out a new plan that fits your life or the weather or anything else, just ask. I'm here to help, whether you're on your own or part of a group.

Remember, the key is not to give up but to find a new way forward.

And to make it even easier, here are some simple tips:

Tips to make changes successfully:

Think about your goals regularly:

Take a moment now and then to think about what you're aiming for. Make sure your goals still make sense for your life.

Notice when things feel tough:

Pay attention if you're feeling stressed or tired. It might be a sign that you need to change something.

Break your goals into small steps:

Instead of one big goal, break it into smaller, measurable steps. It's easier to see progress this way.

Try to solve problems, not worry about them:

When things go wrong, focus on finding solutions instead of just thinking about the problems.

Learn from mistakes:

It's okay to make mistakes. Learn from them and use that knowledge to do better next time.

Remember, changing your plans doesn't mean giving up. It's about finding a new way that works for you. So, don't be afraid to try something different, adjust, and keep moving towards a life you love.
