Don’t Wait Until January to Feel Your Best

Have you ever set a goal to stick with healthy choices, only to find yourself indulging a bit more than planned? It happens, especially around the holidays when tempting treats are everywhere, and celebrations feel endless. But here’s the good news: you don’t have to wait until January 1st to reset. You can start small changes right now to feel amazing throughout the season—without missing out on any of the fun.

Here’s how to feel good about your health *right now* without the all-or-nothing mindset:

1. Don’t Throw in the Towel

It's easy to think, “Well, I’ll just restart in January,” but here’s the truth: waiting to feel good isn’t necessary. You can start making simple adjustments today, ones that will support your wellness and allow you to enjoy the festivities. So, let’s put the idea of waiting aside and focus on feeling great, one choice at a time.

2. Set Yourself Up for Success at Home

Got leftover treats or snacks you’re trying to avoid? Decide what will serve you best. Maybe that means putting those tempting goodies out of sight or passing them along to friends and family. The goal is to create a supportive environment that aligns with how you want to feel—clear, energized, and ready to enjoy the celebrations ahead.

3. Make Choices That Align With How You Want to Feel

When faced with tempting treats or meals, ask yourself how you want to feel afterward. If indulging in a special holiday dish feels aligned with your goals, go for it! If not, choose something that will make you feel great in the long run. It’s about balance, not restriction, and knowing you’re in control of your choices.

4. Plan Ahead to Minimize Stress and Maximize Enjoyment

One of the best ways to stay on track is by planning ahead. Got a dinner with friends? Take a look at the restaurant’s menu beforehand and think about what would feel good for you to enjoy. Setting a plan doesn’t mean depriving yourself; it’s about setting yourself up to make decisions that allow you to feel your best while still celebrating.

This holiday season I have a few dinner plans with friends at our favorite Italian place. Will I indulge in some pasta and wine and feel bloated the next day? Possibly!  But I know that a single meal doesn’t define my wellness journey. I’ll enjoy the moment, listen to my body, and remember that balance is key. By being mindful about my choicesI will enjoy the evening whether I decide to indulge or not.

5. Give Yourself Grace, and Focus on the Big Picture

As the season brings more gatherings and celebrations, remember that it’s okay to have a celebration meal (however you define that for yourself)! Give yourself grace and don’t dwell on a day or two of celebration. The goal is to feel good overall, not to be “perfect” every step of the way.

If you’re ready to make this holiday season different—one where you feel great and enjoy every moment—drop a comment below! I’m opening up two coaching spots before the end of the year, and I’d love to work with you if you’re ready to find balance and build habits that last well beyond the holiday season.

Enjoy your week, savor those special treats you choose to have, and know that you’re already on the path to a joyful, balanced holiday season.
