3 tips for a smooth transition into 2024

As we gear up for 2024, let's acknowledge the small quirks that unite us all—like that moment of hesitation when we have to start writing the correct year in January.

Change, much like this annual calendar challenge, is a gradual process that unfolds step by step. And did you notice that I forgot to change 2023 to 2024 in my email last week? This just goes to show that the struggle to change is a universal experience.

And because that change takes time, here are three things I am doing this January to ease myself into change, one percent at a time:

1. Embrace the power of small steps:

Change is a beast when you try to tackle it all at once. Break it down. Aim for just a 1% improvement daily. Whether it's tweaking a habit, adjusting to a new routine, or looking at things from a different angle, small, consistent steps pave the way for lasting change. No need to do a total overhaul; it's the small wins that add up over time when paired with consistency.

2. Keep it real:

In a world that loves quick fixes, remember that meaningful change is a journey, not a race. Cut yourself some slack and realize progress can be a slow burn. Celebrate the little victories, and when life throws you a curveball, be kind to yourself. It's the real, imperfect steps that build resilience and keep you moving forward.

3. Make time to look back:

Change can sometimes require that you are figuring things out along the way. Take a breather to look back and see what's working, what needs tweaking, and what deserves a pat on the back. Whether it's a quick moment of mindfulness or jotting down thoughts, reflection keeps you on track and committed to positive change.

In 2024 I'm diving into life's adventures with an open mind and heart.  Just like we share a chuckle over our yearly calendar quirks, 12 months from now, we can share a few chuckles over this years missteps and how they led to bigger successes.

Here's to a fantastic year of embracing change—steadily and one percent at a time!

As always, my wish for you is to live a life you love without being hungry, feeling deprived, or giving up the things that bring you joy.
